Northport Police Blotter: 2 Men Try To Steal Items From CVS

ALSO: Deer killed in car crash; political signs stolen; and a missing dog could not be found, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Oct. 28 through Nov. 3.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • An officer found a motorcycle parked on the side of Center Street on Oct. 30 with a license plate attached to it belonging to a different motorcycle that expired in 2021. The license plate was removed and mailed back to the NYS DMV, and the motorcyclist was issued a summons.
  • A deer was killed in a collision on Main Street on Oct. 31. The driver that hit the deer left by the time police arrived. The highway department was notified to pick up the deer carcass.
  • Four packages were found on the side of Woodside Road on Nov. 1. The packages were unopened and addressed to four separate owners. Each owner told police their package was never delivered. The officer determined that the packages possibly fell out of a delivery truck and then delivered the packages to the owners.
  • A woman said two political lawn signs were removed from her Bluff Point Road home on Nov. 1.
  • A summons was issued to a driver who parked a vehicle in the Trinity Church parking spot on Nov. 1.
  • A dog got loose on Church Street on Nov. 1. Officers searched but could not find the dog.
  • Two men tried to steal items from CVS Pharmacy on Fort Salonga Road on Nov. 3. The manager told police that two men came into the store, both wearing masks, with one carrying a backpack. The manager said the men filled a shopping cart with products from the store as they walked around the store, and when they were heading towards the exit, the manager yelled to her fellow employee to call the police. The men left the cart behind while they ran out of the store, police said. The officer reviewed the camera footage with the manager and advised the manager to check her inventory and review any additional camera footage.
