Northport Police Blotter: Credit Card Scam; Motorcycle Stolen
ALSO: A man's sunglasses were knocked off in a road rage incident; medicine was stolen; and a gas station fire extinguished, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Nov. 13 through Nov. 19.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A Nautilus Avenue woman reported a credit card scam to police on Nov. 13. She said she was alerted by her bank, Capitol One, to an inquiry to open a credit card in her name. She said she never opened a new credit card and asked her bank to cancel the request. She suffered no monetary loss at the time of her report.
- A man went to police headquarters on Nov. 13 to report a road rage incident that started in Huntington Village. He told police that as he was traveling on Fort Salonga Road, a man passed him on his right-hand side in an "aggressive manner." The man who went to the police said he caught up to the other driver at the intersection of Woodbine Avenue and began arguing with him. The other man threw an object at him, which knocked his sunglasses off, and then drove away. The man told police he did not suffer any injuries and had to rush back to his office for a meeting. Police told him to avoid road rage arguments in the future.
- A vessel was taking on water with three people on board on the Long Island Sound on Nov. 14. Northport police helped Suffolk police secure the boat to the dock.
- Police were called to Stanton Street on Nov. 14 for a report of a "suspicious" man banging on the front door. When police arrived, the homeowner realized the man banging on the door was just a flower delivery man.
- A loose sailboat was reported up against the bulkhead in Northport Harbor on Nov. 14. Police found the boat but could not secure it. The vessel did not have any ID or registration visible, so the owner could not be contacted. The Huntington Harbormaster was notified.
- Metro Gas Station was on fire around 7:50 a.m. Nov. 15. Northport police assisted Suffolk police and East Northport Fire Rescue with the fire. The flames were extinguished.
- A parked vehicle was hit near St. Paul's Methodist Church on Nov. 15.
- Police responded to a Rutledge Avenue home after an unknown man was at the door around 6:15 a.m. Nov. 17. The woman said she saw a man approach her front door on her Ring camera. He ran off once he saw the Ring camera, the woman said.
- Medicine was stolen from CVS Pharmacy on Nov. 18, police said.
- A motorcycle was stolen on Woodbine Avenue on Nov. 18, police said.
- A tree fell on Sea Cove Road on Nov. 19, blocking the roadway. The Northport Highway Department was notified.
- A woman suffered a left ankle injury when she fell on Main Street on Nov. 19. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital. The woman said she tripped on a raised section of the sidewalk, causing her to fall to the ground. Police photographed the sidewalk area and sent a report to the Northport Village Clerk's office.
- A vehicle was parked on grass on Norwood Avenue on Nov. 19. Police could not find the driver.
