Northport Police Blotter: Man Banned From Brew Cheese, Northport

ALSO: A man took an electrical adapter from someone's boat, leading to an argument between the two, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from July 5 through July 11.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A sinking boat was reported in Northport Harbor on July 6. The boat was underwater with a broken rope line. The owner said he went fishing the night before and must have not tied the boat properly.
  • A man reportedly refused to leave Brew Cheese on July 6, police said. An employee told police that the man had an incident with a different employee, a woman he makes feel uncomfortable when he's in the restaurant. The man agreed to leave when police told him. The manager signed a trespass affidavit, and the man was told he is no longer allowed to enter Brew Cheese, to which he agreed.
  • A sick raccoon was euthanized and disposed of at Britannia Yachting Center on July 7.
  • A Northport resident reported a suspicious phone call. A woman told police someone called her cell phone and house phone asking for her daughter by name, and when she asked the caller who was calling, he became rude and hung up. Police helped the woman block the number on her cell phone and suggested she contact police again if the calls continue.
  • Police watched as a group boarded a vessel on Northport Dock and began taking pictures. The group told police that the boat did not belong to any of them and they were unaware of any wrongdoing. Police told the group to not board any boats not belonging to them in the future, and the group left. The incident was reported July 7.
  • Food on a stove caused a fire alarm at a house on Franklin Street on July 8.
  • A sinkhole was reported on Burr Avenue on July 9.
  • A boat was found sinking in Village Dock on July 9. Northport and Asharoken police found the boat was tied to the Northport Village Dock and resting on the bottom of the bay. The owner of the boat responded to make arrangements to have the boat removed.
  • A raccoon was possibly stuck in a sewer on Main Street on July 9. Police notified the highway department to see if the grate could be removed.
  • Police responded to Village Dock on July 10 for an argument between a person and a boater regarding an electrical adapter. The boater said the person took an electrical adapter from his boat. The boater's adapter was returned. The person was warned and admonished by police about his behavior.
  • A wallet was found in Village Park on Main Street around 1:30 a.m. July 11. Police could not contact the wallet's owner. The wallet was placed in the temporary bin at police headquarters.
  • A woman's basement flooded due to the rain, and she reported the incident at 3:30 a.m. July 11. Her furnace heater was damaged in the flood. The Northport Fire Chief said the pilot light assembly was rusted out and needed to be replaced.
  • A dead baby deer was found in a Locust Road driveway. Police disposed of the deer.
