Northport Police Blotter: Man Charged In DWI Crash After Hitting Car
ALSO: A woman reported credit card fraud, people were climbing the village Christmas tree, and a cat was hit by a vehicle, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Dec. 11 through Dec. 17.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Thomas Bianculli, 51, of Northport, was arrested in connection with a drunken hit-and-run crash on Main Street on Dec. 17, police said. Officers were called to Main Street around 1 a.m. Dec. 17 after a woman said her vehicle was hit by a black Tesla, and the driver fled east, police said. The woman showed police a photo of the license plate of the Tesla that damaged her vehicle, police said. As police interviewed the woman, a black Tesla drove by westbound on Main Street, beeping and passing the police, which was the same Tesla described by the woman, police said. Police stopped Bianculli and smelled alcohol on his breath, police said. Bianculli also had bloodshot and glassy eyes, as well as slurred speech, police said. Bianculli was unaware that he was involved in a crash, police said. He performed poorly on several field sobriety tests, police said. Bianculli produced a BAC reading of 0.12%, police said. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Incidents
- People were trying to climb the village Christmas tree on Dec. 13. Police admonished them and the climbers agreed to leave the area.
- Northport Highway Department employees reported damage to the brick wall exit border on Main Street on Dec. 13. They do not know what caused the damage. Police found video footage, but the cause of damage remained "inconclusive," police said. The highway department scheduled a repair of the damage.
- Police found a cat that was struck by a vehicle on Main Street on Dec. 14. The officer removed it from the roadway and took it to North Shore Veterinary Hospital. The cat did have a chip. The officer called the owner and told them where their cat was.
- A woman reported credit card fraud to police on Dec. 14. She said shortly after she used her Jet Blue Mastercard at the self checkout kiosk at CVS in Northport Village, she noticed several charges that she did not authorize. She contacted the credit card company, which canceled her current card, issued her a new card, and informed her that she would not be liable for the unauthorized charges. She wanted to document the incident for informational purposes. Police responded to CVS to check the self checkout kiosks for any tampering or card skimmers, but found none.
- A woman fainted at the Northport Yacht Club on Dec. 14 but declined medical attention.
- Police were called to Jay Court on Dec. 15 for a report of vehicles driving over the grass. The caller said there has been an ongoing problem with vehicles driving on the edge of the grass and over his rocks during school drop off and pick up. The caller wanted to document the incident for informational purposes and the officer told the caller that the enforcement vehicle will be patrolling the area during school drop off and pick up.
- A dead deer was found on Eatons Neck Road on Dec. 15. A driver told police he hit the deer with his vehicle, which sustained minimum damage, and he wanted to document the incident for informational purposes. The Northport Highway Department removed the deer.
- A man was having a seizure at Robke's Country Inn on Dec. 15. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
- A woman fainted at Robke's on Dec. 15. She declined medical attention.
- Summonses were issued to cars parked illegally at Trinity Episcopal Church on Dec. 16.
- A driver was issued a summons because his car blocked a private lot entrance on Woodside Avenue on Dec. 16. The vehicle was parked in a diagonal striped parking spot blocking a stair entrance.
