Northport Police Blotter: Man Charged With Second DWI
Recent Northport Village arrests and key incidents, including a man who drove drunk and vomited on himself, police said.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from July 22 through July 28.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

- Jinfeng Pan, 38, of Dix Hills, allegedly sold a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka to someone under the age of 21, and was arrested and charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child on July 22.
- John Graham, 47, of Hampton Bays, allegedly committed a traffic infraction and was arrested after an investigation. He was charged with second-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle: refused chemical test and operation of motor vehicle by unlicensed driver on July 26.
- John Pappias, 54, of Northport, allegedly failed to stay in his lane while driving a 2005 GMC and crossed over the double yellow line. He was pulled over in the parking lot of 670 Fort Salonga Road, where Pappias' breath reeked of alcohol, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, his pupils were constricted, his speech was slurred and sluggish, he
was very unsteady on his feet and he performed poorly on several standardized field sobriety tests, police said. Pappias also had vomit all over his shirt and on the side of his car, police said. He admitted to possession of suboxone while police were searching him, as they found rolled up tinfoil with an orange tablet inside. Police also found several Budweiser beer cans in the car. Pappias was arrested and brought back to police headquarters, where he refused a chemical test. Further investigation revealed Pappias' license was revoked for a prior DWI arrest, and he failed to install the interlock device he was required to have. He was charged with a DWI (second offense), consumption of alcoholic beverages, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. - Lauren Lavoro, 25, of Long Beach, allegedly left after being involved in a car accident at Fox Lane. She was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an incident and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
- Michael Recher, 20, of Northport, allegedly was speeding in a blue 2006 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Fort Salonga Road. Police noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car during a stop. Police found two backpacks containing 14 vials of concentrated cannabis and 4.5 ounce of green leaf substance which field tested positive for marijuana. Police also found a large sum in Recher's backpack. Recher was arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, equipment (vehicle manufactured after 1952: two stop lamps) and speeding: posted zone.
Incidents
- A malfunctioning ATM ate a man's debit card and cash at the First National Bank of Long Island along Fort Salonga Road. He said he lost $195. Police told the man to contact the bank to report the loss. The incident happened on July 23.
- A woman who lives on Bayview Avenue told police her ex-boyfriend was watching her house with binoculars on July 24.
- A sinkhole formed at the intersection of Grove Street and Grove Place, and the Village Highway Department worked to fix it on July 26.
- A woman left her dogs in the car when she was at Napper Tandy's. Police spoke to her, and she brought her dogs out of the car and onto the front patio of the bar. The incident happened July 26.
- Drunk men told police they weren't doing anything wrong. The person who called police did not allege any criminality. The men were warned and admonished for their behavior. The incident happened July 27.
- A person throwing a loud party on Ocean Avenue agreed to lower the music on July 27.
- Police responded to Sea Cove Road for a report of a man refusing to leave. The man who called the police told the officer that his sister and her boyfriend came over his parent's house. The man and his sister's boyfriend had an argument. The man asked the boyfriend to leave, and he did so without further incident. The incident happened on July 28.
