Northport Police Blotter: Nativity Decoration Stolen On Christmas
ALSO: Officers respond to potential squatting situation; and a lost dog was found and returned to its owner, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Dec. 25 through Dec. 31.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A nativity decoration was stolen from a Beach Avenue front yard on Christmas, Dec. 25, police said.
- A man was warned and admonished by police for having a dog off its leash in Municipal Lot #1 on Dec. 27.
- Police responded to Laurel Avenue on Dec. 28 for a report of a woman who was kicked out of her Uber and missing her phone. The woman told police she was kicked out of the Uber and the driver threw her belongings out of the car. Her relative was able to use Find My iPhone and the officer found the woman's phone.
- People were possibly squatting in a Norwood Avenue home on Dec. 28. The caller said his tenants have seen one or more people possibly living within the home, which may be without electricity. Police could not contact anyone in the home. The owner of the property reportedly lives in Greece, police said. Police sent an email and letter to the last known contact for the property owner requesting that they contact the department to update the status of the property. "No further action possible at this time, but spot checks will continue to be conducted of the residence," police said.
- A dog was found on Waterside Avenue on Dec. 29. The finder brought it to police headquarters. Police brought the dog back to the location where the dog was found and located the owner.
- An intoxicated man waved police down on Fort Salonga Road on Dec. 29. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
- An intoxicated man was refusing to leave the Northport Hotel on Dec. 29. Police found the man, who agreed to take an Uber home.
- Two vehicles collided on Church Street on Dec. 31. Both drivers said they weren't sure if they wanted an accident report completed at the time. Police told them how to file one at a later date.
