Northport Police Blotter: Vehicle Stuck On The Beach

The vehicle had to be towed out of the water, police say. ALSO: A dead deer found on a property, and a theft at CVS, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Sept. 5 through Sept. 11.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Northport police helped Suffolk police with a motor vehicle collision on Waterside Road on Sept. 5.
  • A possibly sick raccoon was found in a garbage can on Bluff Point Road on Sept. 6. Police determined the raccoon was not sick and got it out of the garbage can.
  • A Scudder Place resident reported on Sept. 6 that he heard a knock at his front door and when he opened the door, a Hispanic man appeared confused, stated he had the wrong address, and went back to his vehicle. The man sat in the vehicle, an older four-door silver honda civic, with another male for a few minutes before driving away. Officers searched the area for the vehicle but did not find it. Police told the caller that it was possible that the person did indeed have the wrong address as the are multiple streets in the immediate area with the Scudder name.
  • A man reported on Sept. 6 on Hilton Avenue that an elderly man he did not know knocked on his vehicle window and asked what he was doing, and then left the area. Police could not find the older man's vehicle.
  • A theft was reported at CVS Pharmacy on Sept. 7.
  • A summons was issued to the driver of a vehicle parked on Union Place without a permit on Sept. 8.
  • A summons was issued to the driver of a vehicle parked on a sidewalk at Waterside Avenue on Sept. 8.
  • Baby raccoons were freed from a dumpster by police at the Northport Yacht Club parking lot on Sept. 9.
  • A driver was issued a summons after he made an illegal right on red on Norwood Avenue on Sept. 9. The man's driving privilege had previously been suspended and he was operating without an interlock device.
  • A grand larceny was reported on Franklin Street on Sept. 9.
  • A reckless driver was warned and admonished on Sept. 9 after they were seen traveling
    northbound on Church Street.
  • A dead deer was found on a James Street property on Sept. 10.
  • An empty vehicle was found parked on the beach and partially in the water at Scudder Park on Sept. 11. The vehicle's owner said his van got caught in the sand and he was unable to drive it. 9th Street Auto was able to tow the vehicle out of the water. A summons was issued to the vehicle's owner.
