Northport Police Blotter: Woman Drove Drunk With Her 3 Children In Car
ALSO: Someone tried cashing fraudulent checks, a driver asked a woman to get in his car, and a kayak was stolen, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from June 26 through July 2.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Christine Gulotta-Youngwall, 43, of Lloyd Harbor, was involved in a two-car motor vehicle crash while she had children in her car on Woodbine Avenue around 11:30 p.m. June 29, police said. Officers saw Gulotta-Youngwall unsteady on her feet standing outside of a parked 2022 Mercedes-Benz with right rear-end damage, police said. Police interviewed Gulotta-Youngwall, whose breath smelled of alcohol, her eyes were glassy and bloodshot, her speech was slurred and sluggish, she was staggering on her feet, and she performed poorly on several field sobriety tests, police said. Gulotta-Youngwall's daughter and two sons were passengers when she crashed, police said. A witness said while she was standing next to her vehicle, Gulotta-Youngwall backed her car into the witness's vehicle that was parked legally and unoccupied, police said. Gulotta-Youngwall told officers that while she was backing out, another vehicle was also backing and they struck each other, police said. The witness and other witnesses said that the second vehicle involved was parked, not moving, police said. The witness also said she saw the children in the vehicle while Gulotta-Youngwall was driving, police said. The children were turned over to a relative, police said. Gulotta-Youngwall was arrested and refused to take a breath test after speaking with her lawyers, police said. Gulotta-Youngwall was charged with two counts of aggravated DWI: child in vehicle, one count of driving while intoxicated, one count of refuse pre-screen test, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count of unsafe backing, and one count of no/expired inspection certificate.
Incidents
- Police responded to Mariners Lane on June 26 for a report of someone trying to cash a fraudulent check with a mobile device. The caller was notified by First National Bank of Long Island that an unknown person attempted to cash two fraudulent checks against their account. The bank manager noticed that the checks were fraudulent and denied the transaction. The caller was told to document the incident. The caller did not suffer any loss. First National Bank of Long Island said they will investigate the fraudulent checks.
- A man was soliciting construction services in the area of Duffy Court on June 27. A woman said her husband got a phone call for construction services and the man was in the area. The caller's husband told the solicitor they did not need any services and to not come over. A short time later, a man who did not identify himself knocked on the caller's door and said he wanted to give the caller an estimate for construction services. The solicitor was asked to leave and not come back. The caller was told to call police if the solicitor returns or tries to contact them again.
- A summons was issued to a driver who parked illegally on Bayview Avenue on June 28.
- A lifeguard sign was reported missing from Steers Beach on June 28.
- A customer grew "irate" inside King Laundry Corp. on June 28. An employee told police that a woman was hitting the washing machine because her quarter was stuck. The employee said when she asked her to stop hitting the machine, the woman became irate and started to yell at her in Spanish, police said. Police spoke with the customer, who confirmed the story. Police told her she should leave the area, which she did.
- A woman riding her bike flagged down a police officer on Norwood Avenue on June 29. She said she was riding her bike south on Norwood Avenue around 11 a.m. when a black sedan driven by a Middle Eastern man pulled up next to her to see if she needed help getting up the hill. She declined his offer of help, and then the driver asked her if she wanted to get into the car, police said. The woman declined again, and the driver drove away, police said.
- A dead cat was found in Main Street and disposed of on June 29.
- A kayak was reported stolen from Scudder Park on June 30.
- A petty larceny was reported at Nest on Main on June 30.
- A grill fire was reported on Harborview Drive on July 1. The fire had been put out by the time Northport firefighters and police arrived.
- A car was damaged during the valet parking process at the John Engeman Theater on July 1. The car owner told police that one of the valet drivers drove his car with the parking break still engaged. A representative of Engeman Theatre acknowledged the damage and apologized about the incident. The owner received contact information for Engeman Theatre for any damages.
