Here are some of the incidents Northport Police responded to recently. None of the defendants has been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed below. All complaints in the report are only alleged crimes under local investigation.
A woman reported that her mailbox, worth approximately $50, was stolen on Hillside Place on Aug. 11. The case was referred for follow up by police.
A sailboat owner reported that between Aug. 1-10, someone cut the mooring lines to his vessel and that the pickup buoy was missing. The incident occurred while the man, who moors his boat west of the village dock, was on vacation. The estimated value of the property damage is $250.

A defendant was served with an order of protection issued by the Northport Village Justice Court on Aug. 11.
Police responded to an auto collision on Beach Avenue in Northport on Aug. 12. at 8:30 a.m., in which one driver left the scene. Police say that it appears that the driver of one car attempted to turn the vehicle around and backed into a second car, which was parked and unoccupied at the time. The driver of the first car left without leaving any information. An investigation is underway.

Police responded to a report of possible identity theft on Bayview Avenue on Aug. 14 at 3:41 p.m. No additional details were immediately available.
Police responded to a report of a stolen check on Woodbine Ave on Aug. 15 3:45 p.m. No additional details were immediately available.
Police responded to a report of a harassment on Grove Street on Aug. 15 at 6:40 p.m. No additional details were immediately available.
A Huntington man was arrested on Aug. 15 at 10:46 p.m. for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
A Kings Park man was arrested on Aug. 15 at 11:53 p.m. on Fort Salonga Road for driving while intoxicated.
A man reported on Aug 16 that he was attempting to park his car on Main Street when a dark colored Audi with two unknown people pulled up alongside and asked if he wanted to fight. The man told police he had his children in the car with him and left the scene.
