Northport Students Awarded for Excellence in Physical Education

The students were honored for their academic, athletic and leadership skills.

Seniors Matthew Lindley and Rose Ozimkowski from the Northport High School were recently presented with the Outstanding Physical Education Student Award from the New York State Association Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYSAHPERD) Suffolk Zone Chapter.

Both received a certificate and medal for their academic excellence, outstanding character and leadership qualities in a physical education setting and overall leadership in school-wide activities. To be nominated for this honor, both students also had to be outstanding role models within the community and to their peers.
Lindley was nominated by his teacher John DeMartini while Ozimkowski was nominated by her teacher Kaylie LaLota.

“On behalf of myself and the entire Northport-East Northport School District Physical Education staff, I congratulate both Rose and Matt on this tremendous honor,” said Director of Physical Education, Athletics and Health Paul Klimuszko. “They have performed on an outstanding level in their Physical Education class and continue to serve as positive student role models.”
