Northport Students Shine In Bus Safety Poster Contest
Three Northport-East Northport students have earned first, second and third place in the Suffolk-wide contest.
NORTHPORT, NY — Three Northport-East Northport students have earned first, second and third place in the NYAPT Transportation Safety Poster Contest for Suffolk County, according to the school district.
Students throughout the county were tasked with creating a poster with the theme “1 bus +
1 driver = a BIG impact on Education.” The posters were then judged by the NYAPT Board
of Directors on their originality, meeting the theme and visual impact among other criteria. The contest is intended to help raise awareness about bus safety.
Pulaski Road fourth-grader Ava Skaats Lather earned first place and was awarded a $100 prize. The runner ups were Ocean Avenue third-graders Charlotte Bernier in second place and Ryan
Zuckerman in third. They earned $75 and $50 respectively.
