Northport Symphony Orchestra Announces Auditions

The Northport Symphony Orchestra seeks new members in al sections. We are a diverse group, including both musc professionals and those for whom music is a joyful avocation. Our repertoire ranges from Baroque through Classical and Romantic to early twentieth century and has included music by Bach, Telemann, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Vaughan Williams.

We perform two public concerts per year as well as educational and outreach performances. Our spring concerts feature area musicians, both professionals and gifted students. Our repertoire for fall 2014 includes Symphony No. 4 (the Italian) by Mendelssohn, the Overture to Don Giovanni by Mozart, and the Coriolan Overture by Beethoven as well as other works to be announced.

Our Music Director, Richard Hyman, is an award-winning music educator and composer. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, usually at East Northport Middle School. Rehearsals for fall 2014 commence on September 10th, 2014. SCOPE credit is available to teachers.
