Police Log: 100 Youths Attend House Party, Teen Goes on Joyride While Parents Sleep

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Monday, Feb. 20

At 3:25 p.m., police responded to Scudder Park for a report of a vehicle “doing donuts” in the parking lot. Officers arrived and did not locate the vehicle or notice any apparent damage.

At 1 a.m., officers observed a capsized boat in Northport Harbor at the dock. The boat’s owner was at the scene and said he will upright the boat at low tide.

At 9:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud party on Main Street. The resident told officers he was having a few friends over but a group of 100 people showed up. The youths were dispersed and left the area. The parents and homeowner were contacted and were found to be away. A friend of the parents responded to the residence to take control of the incident.

Thursday, Feb. 23

At 1:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a white mini van that was driving in and out of traffic cones in a parking lot on Woodside Avenue. Officers pulled over the vehicle and determined the driver was driving with a permit only and had taken her parents’ vehicle while they were asleep. The parents were contacted and responded to the scene. The vehicle was turned over to the parents. No traffic summons was issued.
