Police Log: Angry Customer Refuses To Leave, Carport Collapses

Monday, March 13

At 5:02 p.m., police responded to Guinta’s Shopping Center on Fort Salonga road for the report of vehicles parking in the Fire Zone, especially during dinner hours. Police located a 2016 Cadillac parked and unattended in the Fire Zone and issued the appropriate summons.

At 12:49 p.m., police responded to a West Scudder Place location for the report of a canvas carport that collapsed from the weight of the snow and fell on two vehicles. Police say the pole structure also fell onto the vehicles along with the canvas and the snow.

At 10:46 a.m., police received a report that a US Postal Service truck was exiting a parking space at Northport Village Hall and caused two rocks to hit a vehicle's window panel, causing two holes.

Thursday, March 16

At 4:15 p.m., police received a complaint that a woman lost her Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status Form that was issued by the Department of Homeland Security. The woman said she lost the document sometime last year.

Friday, March 17

At 9:39 p.m., a 50-year-old Northport man was issued a summons in lieu of an arrest for leaving the scene of an accident on Reservoir Avenue.

Sunday, March 19

At 7:37 p.m., police responded to Rockin’ Fish on Main Street for the report of an irate customer refusing to leave. Police spoke to the customer, who agreed to leave. The owner signed a trespass affidavit stating the customer was no longer welcome in the establishment and if he returned, he could face legal action.
