Police Log: Angry Tenant, Stranger Danger, Reported Overdose
Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.
Thursday, Jan. 7
At 3:30 p.m., police received a report of a man following a girl home after she got off her school bus at Sailfish Place and Sea Cove Road. The girl told police she began running home and turned back to see if she was being followed, but the turned and walked away. The man did not speak to her or commit any criminal activity, police said. The girl described the man as middle eastern, in his forties, and wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and a red jacket.
Friday, Jan. 8
At 5:40 p.m., police received a report of a disoriented man wandering around the parking lot of a Main Street location. Officers arrived to the scene but could not locate the man.
At 7:24 p.m., police responded to St. Philip Neri Parish on Main Street for a report of an intoxicated woman who fainted. Officers provided basic first aid until Northport Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and took the woman to Huntington Hospital.
Saturday, Jan. 9
At 2:10 p.m., police received a complaint that when a man attempted to serve someone with foreclosure papers on Van Wicklin Court, the person became agitated and followed him in his vehicle. When the man arrived to police headquarters, the person drove away from the area. The man wishes this incident to be documented for informational purposes.
At 7:24 p.m., police responded to a Main Street home to assist a man who couldn’t walk. Officers had to cut the storm door to gain entry to the residence. The man was transported to Huntington Hospital via Northport Rescue for evaluation.
Sunday, Jan. 10
At 4:12 p.m., police responded to a Wheeler Place home to help Suffolk County Police with a 1-year-old boy who suffered injuries from a fall. The boy was taken to Huntington Hospital via East Northport Fire Department.
At 7:08 p.m., police responded to a Fort Salonga Road location to help SCPD with a possible overdose. Officers arrived to the location to find the person conscious and alert. Officers remained on the scene until East Northport Fire and Rescue and SCPD arrived.
At some point between 12:30-5:30 p.m., a man returned to his vehicle from work at Saint Paul’s Methodist Church on Main Street to find his car door open with minor damage estimated at $500.
