Police Log: Dead Deer Hanging From Fence, Fake Money Used at Store

Friday, Feb. 17
At 9:34 a.m, police responded to Ocean Avenue School for an abandoned 911 call. Officers met with the school security officer, who said the abandoned 911 call was due to the phone system was being serviced.

At 1:34 a.m., police received a report of a man sleeping on the front steps of a Main Street location. Officers said the man declined medical attention but did request a cab ride home.
At 3:56 a.m., police received a report of a man possibly removing a street sign on Waterside Avenue. Officers did not locate a man and no signs were missing, but the sign at Waterside and Chestnut appeared tampered with. A notification was made to highway for repair.

Sunday, Feb. 19
At 4:19 p.m., police responded to Metro Mart on Fort Salonga road for a report of a person attempting to pass a fake $20 bill for gas. Officers remained on the scene until Suffolk County Police units arrived.
At 5:29 p.m., police responded to a Sea Cove Road location for a dead deer hanging from the fence in a backyard. The man was advised it was not a police issue and he should contact pest removal.
