Police Log: 'Disturbing' Note Found in Library, DWI Arrest After Crash

Tuesday, Dec. 15
At 6:59 a.m., authorities responded to a report of a clam boat that was beached from heavy winds on Bluff Point Road. The owner of the vessel was contacted and said he would remove it. No further action was required.
At 7:05 p.m., police responded to help Suffolk Police with a car that drove into the woods on Waterside Road. Officers stayed on the scene until SCPD units arrived.

Wednesday, Dec. 16
At 10:18 a.m., police responded to a Main Street location for the report of an unresponsive male. Northport Rescue transported the man to Northport VA Hospital for treatment.

At 9:21 p.m., a 25-year-old Northport man was arrested for an outstanding warrant and third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle after he was pulled over on Fort Salonga Road.
At 10:10 p.m., a man flagged down an officer to report that his dog was getting hit by a car on Main Street.
Thursday, Dec. 17
At 4:52 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious person walking around the school bus stop on Woodbine Avenue earlier that morning.
At 6:30 p.m., James Day, 53, of St. James, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after authorities responded to a motor vehicle crash on Laurel Avenue. Following an investigation, police said they determined Day was under the influence of alcohol during the crash.
Friday, Dec. 18
At 4:34 p.m., someone came into headquarters to report a disturbing note that was found in the Northport Library. The complainant wished to make the police department aware of the incident. Officers followed up with library security.
