Police Log: Drug Arrest, Gas Line Left on in Home, Play Wrestling
Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.
Friday, Feb. 19
At 1:14 p.m., police received a report of a gasoline spill in a garage on Mar-Kan Drive. Officers and members of Northport Fire Department arrived to the scene and the resident said he spilled about a gallon of gasoline, which appeared to already be evaporated. NFD detected no combustible conditions and advised the resident on how to treat the area.
At 4:30 p.m., police received an anonymous complaint of a vehicle racing near Jefferson Avenue. Officers canvassed the area and did not locate any racing vehicles.

At 4:35 a.m., police received a report of criminal mischief in which the vehicle driver’s side window was broken by an unknown person on North Road.
At 3:34 p.m., police received a report of a smell of gas on Seaview Avenue. The odor was found to be the gas line for the barbecue that was found on and running. Officers turned off the gas line and the Northport Fire Department arrived to check the area for hazardous conditions.
Sunday, Feb. 21
At 3:25 a.m., a 19-year-old Commack man was arrested on Fort Salonga Road for seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was found to possess concentrated cannabis, Alprazolam pills (xanax) and marijuana. Authorities issued a traffic stop after he made an unsafe lane change, police said.
At 3:55 p.m., officers arrived to Woodbine Avenue for a report of a possible fight only to find the two people were play wrestling.
