Police Log: Drunk Man With Shovel, Argument With Postal Worker

Monday, Dec. 21
At 3:28 p.m., police reported an ongoing dispute between a homeowner and a postal worker on Scudder Place. Officers arrived to the scene and both parties agreed to be civil with each other.
At 7:04 p.m., police responded to a report of a man with an altered mental status at Northport Village Hall. Officers arrived to the scene and noticed the man was suffering from a mental illness. They placed the man in handcuffs as a safety precaution. He was transported to Huntington Hospital via East Northport Fire Department.

Wednesday, Dec. 23
At 2:53 p.m., police reported aggravated harassment in which someone was receiving harassing letters on McKinney Avenue.

Thursday, Dec. 24
At 6:25 p.m., police reported a disturbance in which a woman’s neighbor was yelling at her dog for barking on Lindberg Court. The complainant requested to have the incident documented.
Friday, Dec. 25
At 4:06 p.m., police reported a vehicle crash between a motorcycle and a car on Fort Salonga Road outside of Northport PD jurisdiction. Officers remained on the scene until Suffolk Police arrived.
At 8:07 p.m., police received a report of shots fired, which turned out to be fireworks near Sir Kenneths Court. Officers responded and warned the youths responsible for the fireworks.
Saturday, Dec. 26
At 1:09 a.m., police responded to a Church Street location for a faulty oven. The resident told police the dial was broken on her stove and she was unable to turn it off. The Northport Fire Department responded to the scene and shut off the gas. The resident was advised to contact a plumber and a stove technician.
At 2:41 p.m., police reported a commercial burglary at Sand City Brewing Co. on Main St.
Sunday, Dec. 27
At 3:31 a.m., police received a report of an intoxicated man who was threatening to hurt people with a shovel on Waterside Road. Officers arrived to the scene and a family member removed the man without further incident.
