Police Log: Drunken Man Hitchhiking, Report of Gunshots, Injured Goose Rescued

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Friday, July 24

At 12:23 p.m., police received a report of gunshots on Washington Place. Officers arrived to the scene and found the area to be quiet with no one in the area.

At 3:20 p.m., police received a report of an injured goose at Scudder Park. An officer safely placed the animal inside a box and transported it to headquarters where a Volunteers for Wildlife representative picked up the goose.

At 8:17 p.m., police arrested a 49-year-old Northport woman and charged her with fourth degree criminal mischief following a domestic incident investigation on Scudder Avenue.

At 1:13 p.m., police received a report of an intoxicated man trying to stop vehicles to get a ride from passing cars on Scudder Avenue. The man eventually got a ride.

At 1:34 p.m., police received a report of an adult male overdose at the King Kullen Shopping Center on Fort Salonga Road. Northport Rescue responded and transported the man to Huntington Hospital.

At 8:15 p.m., police received a report of a sick adult male at Country Tobacco on Fort Salonga Road. Northport Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and determined that the individual was possibly suffering from an unknown drug overdose and was in need of rapid transport. Northport Rescue transported the man to Huntington Hospital.

Sunday, July 26

At 11:37 a.m., police received a report that a resident, who moved from Queens to Northport, was moving into his new residence and noticed that he is missing his bucket of one dollar coins, valued between $2,500 and $6,500. The complainant said he saw the bucket being placed on a moving truck and when the truck arrived to his new address, the bucket was gone. The complainant said the moving company is being somewhat uncooperative.

Monday, July 27

At 8:32 p.m., police received a report of scam phone calls in which a complainant received multiple phone calls from a number that said she was the subject of a criminal charge and would be arrested if she didn’t call back. The number was (816) 988-9477.
