Police Log: Fourth Grader Taken to Hospital Following Allergic Reaction

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department Log.

Thursday, April 23

At 1:59 p.m., police responded to a fourth grader that just received an EpiPen injection from the school nurse after having an allergic reaction on Ocean Avenue. The student had labored breathing and oxygen was administered to him. NFD Rescue responded and gave him albuterol and transported him to Huntington Hospital.

At 7:09 p.m., police responded to Waterside Road to control a situation with a combative male. The man left the location without incident and no further action was necessary.

At 3:48 a.m., police reported a dispute between a cab driver and a passenger on Fort Salonga Road. The cab driver said the passenger’s credit card was denied and she had no other means of paying, police said. The woman was escorted to her mother’s house where she came up with the money for the fare.

At 10:40 a.m., police reported a marine incident in which a sailboat was adrift in Northport Harbor. The vessel was towed and secured at the Woodbine Marina.

Sunday, April 26

At 5:45 p.m., police received a report of needles lying on the street on Scudder Avenue. Officers properly disposed of the needles.

Monday, April 27

At 11:07 a.m., police reported a disturbance in which workers across the street were blowing sand and debris into cars on Bayview Avenue. Officers interviewed the manager who agreed to clean the sand off the vehicles, but the complainant refused this gesture and insisted that the work crew should be arrested. Officers told the complainant that this was not possible and no further action was taken.
