​Police Log: Man Arrested For 911 Hang Up Call, Stuck Raccoon Gets Rescued

Monday, March 6

At 6:29 p.m., a 27-year-old Northport man was arrested for fourth-degree criminal mischief on Hilton Avenue after police received a 911 hang up call with a female yelling in the background.

At 11 a.m., police received a report for a raccoon with its head stuck in a jar on Goldenrod Avenue. Officers arrived to the scene and were able to free the raccoon from the jar.

At 3:02 p.m., a woman reported to police that two religious booklets were missing from her kitchen table on Laurel Avenue. It is unknown if anything was actually taken. Police inspected the front door and did not notice any apparent damage. Nothing else in the apartment was touched, disturbed or taken, police say.

Thursday, March 9

At 1:30 p.m., police received a report that someone stole a 12-foot perception kayak, color blue and white, from rack No. 3 at Scudder Park. The theft occurred some time between October and March.

At 10:21 pm., police responded to an Annetta Avenue location for a parking dispute. Residents told police their neighbor’s truck is very loud and whenever he comes home at night, their children wake up from the noise. It was determined the vehicle was legally parked in the street. Officers spoke to the truck owner who agreed to park his truck in front of his house in the future to avoid any conflicts.
