Police Log: Motorcycle Crash, Vehicle Fire, ‘Suspicious’ Breakup Texter

Wednesday, Nov. 16

At 5:57 a.m., police received a report of a man yelling at the Village Dock. Officers interviewed the man who apologized for being loud and said he received bad news earlier in the day. The man agreed to be quiet and go home.

At 12:57 a.m., police responded to a James Street location for a report for an occupied vehicle that was running for an extended period of time. Officers interviewed the operator, who said he was parked and breaking up with his girlfriend via text. The operator agreed to leave the area.

At 2:21 a.m., police responded to a vehicle fire on Fort Salonga Road to assist Suffolk County Police. Waterside Avenue was shut down until several SCPD units arrived.

At 4:28 a.m., police received a report of a man lying on a wall on the side of Fort Salonga Road. Officers spoke to the man who said he was walking home from Huntington and fell asleep. The man did not appear to need any medical assistance and was escorted home without incident.

At 12:14 p.m., police reported a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on Fort Salonga Road. Police determined the incident was in Suffolk County Police jurisdiction and stayed at the scene until SCPD units arrived.
