Police Log: Overdose Victim Unconscious in Street, Reports of Identity Theft

Sunday, Nov. 1

At 12:07 a.m., police responded to a report of a man who cut his arm with a beer bottle when he fell on the floor at Gunther’s Tap Room on Main Street. He was taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.

Monday, Nov. 2

At 10:41 a.m., police reported possible identity theft in which a man came to police headquarters and said he gave his credit card information through Pay-Pal to a company called Smart Works International for computer services. He became suspicious of the company when he tried calling their 1-800 number and a tech support representative was unable to give him any information. He canceled his payment and the money was reimbursed.

At 3:13 p.m., police reported that someone found a small glassine bag, which is used to hold drugs, on Hickory Place. Police destroyed the bag and canvassed the area for more drug paraphernalia.

At 9:21 p.m., police reported a burglary in which someone entered a Laurel Avenue apartment and stole numerous pieces of jewelry sometime during the last two weeks.

Friday, Nov. 6

At 10:29 p.m., police responded to a Seaview Avenue location for a woman who was suffering from an opioid overdose. Police arrived to find her unconscious, not breathing and lying in the street. Officers administered Narcan and units performed emergency rescue breathing. Northport Fire and Rescue first responders were able to get the woman breathing and stable enough to transport her to Huntington Hospital.
