Police Log: Parking Lot Brawl, Man Commits Lewd Act, Meltdown On Main Street

Monday, March 27

At 8:39 p.m., police responded to Stop & Shop on Fort Salonga Road for the report of 10 males fighting in the parking lot. Officers remained on the scene until evertything was under control.

At 8:06 p.m., police responded to Fort Salonga Road for the report of a vehicle stuck in a puddle. The driver said he attempted to drive through the puddle but made it halfway through and his car died. Officers were able to push the vehicle off the roadway until a tow truck responded to the scene. New York State Department of Transportation responded to clear the drains.

At 12:35 p.m., police received a report of a man inside a vehicle who committed a lewd act in a municipal lot on Constitution Square. Officers responded, but the vehicle was unoccupied and they were unable to follow up with the complainant who refused to leave his name.

At 7:02 p.m., Joseph Hoda, 35, of Mastic, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs on Church Street.

At 7:59 p.m., police responded to Chase Bank on Fort Salonga Road for a report of a homeless man sleeping in the ATM room. The man was transported to Huntington Hospital for an alcohol overdose.

Thursday, March 20

At 8:16 p.m., police responded to Jackie Shawn Salon on Main Street for the report of an irate man refusing to leave. The man left before police arrival, but he was located on Main Street yelling “we are all going to die tonight and the world is ending” to another man. The man then sprinted down Main Street in front of moving vehicles but was stopped on School Street. He told an officer “I’m going to sacrifice my life for the will of the good,” police say. He was taken into protective custody, temporarily taken to police headquarters and then transported to Stony Brook Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
