Police Log: Report of Gunshots, Car Troubles During Snowstorm in Northport

Saturday, Jan. 7
At 1:09 p.m, patrol officers saw a motor vehicle struggling to ascend Scudder Avenue during a snowstorm. Officers turned the vehicle around for the driver and told him to seek a path that wasn't as steep to Main Street.
At 2:20 p.m. police received a report of a group of youths sledding in the street on Cathy Court. Officers told the youths to be careful.

At 6:45 p.m., police assisted Asharoken Police with an intoxicated man sitting inside the Mobil gas station on Fort Salonga Road. Northport Rescue responded and transported the man to Northport V.A. Hospital.

At 2:33 a.m., police responded to the report of a possible gunshot heard near Main Street. Officers canvassed the area did not notice anything suspicious.
At 5:32 p.m., police responded to a Reservoir Avenue location for the report of a Jeep following vehicles and using a siren. Officers canvassed the area but could not locate the vehicle.
