Police Log: Shed Fire, Sunken Clam Boat, Suspicious Man With 'Chin Beard'

Monday, April 10

At 2:49 p.m., police received a parking complaint that a neighbor parked in the street in a spot the complainant called “her spot” on Woodbine Avenue. Police told her that her neighbor is entitled to park in the street as much as she is.

At 5:45 p.m., a 28-year-old Ridge man was arrested for disorderly conduct on Main Street.

Tuesday, April 11

At 3 p.m., police responded to the Britannia Yachting Center for the report of a floating dock and a sunken clam boat that drifted into the marina. The dock and the derelict boat was brought back to Scudder Beach. The Highway Department was notified to dispose of the boat.

Saturday, April 15

At 12:30 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash near Country Bagels on Fort Salonga Road.

At 2:22 p.m., police responded to a report of an adult man with dementia who wandered out of Copenhagen Bakery on Woodbine Avenue. An officer took the wife and canvassed the area to find that the missing man returned to the bakery.

At 2:25 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious event in which a man with a “chin beard” in a black Nissan pulled up next to a woman in the CVS lot on Fort Salonga Road and asked her if she wanted to smoke some marijuana.

At 3:20 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash on School Street.

Sunday, April 16

At 7:47 a.m., a woman entered police headquarters on Main Street to discuss how she is protected on a temporary order of protection. She then told police she believes she is being watched when she enters or leaves her apartment. Police told her she can contact police whenever she feels the order of protection is being violated.

At 6:45 p.m., police responded to a Chestnut Circle location for the report of a shed fire. Officers unsuccessfully tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. The Northport Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Police say criminal activity is not suspected at this time.
