Police Log: Stolen Taxi Found Abandoned, Child Injures Leg at School

Saturday, Feb. 11
At 12:18 p.m., police responded to a Main Street location for a report of suspicious people inside a vacant home. Officers found the “suspicious people” to be the new homeowners.
At 7:56 p.m., an officer on patrol located an abandoned NYC green taxi at the dead end of Bluff Point Road. A DMV check determined the vehicle was stolen out of Nassau County earlier in the day at 12:30 a.m.

Sunday, Feb. 12
At 1:35 p.m., police responded to the report of a man crawling on the ground on Prospect Avenue. Officers arrived to the location to find the man walking into his residence. The man told police he was fine and his wife said she would call if he needed any help.

Wednesday, Feb. 15
At 12:49 a.m., police responded to Window Shop Jewelers on Main Street for a report of a man possibly inside the store. Offices determined the store was secure and no one was inside.
At 4:42 p.m., police responded to a Laurel Avenue location for the report of a woman fainting. Officers arrived and said the woman appeared the be intoxicated and possibly injured from falling down. The woman was transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue. An officer followed the ambulance due to the woman’s combative nature.
Thursday, Feb. 16
At 11:10 a.m., a 50-year-old Northport man was arrested for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after he was pulled over for an equipment violation on Main Street.
At 2:50 p.m., police responded to Ocean Avenue School for the report of a child with a leg injury. The child was evaluated and transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue. The child’s parent was at the scene and accompanied the child to the hospital.
