Police Log: Tax Return Fail, $4,000 Phone Scam, Overdose Rescue

Tuesday, April 4
At 11:15 a.m., a man on Highland Avenue reported a phone scam in which an unknown called said the man’s granddaughter was in jail and needed $4,000 bail.

At 12:17 p.m., a woman on Franklin Street reported to police that her tax return was rejected by the IRS because the social security number on the return was already used. The woman contacted the IRS and they said it could have been a mistake and they asked for a letter explaining details.

At 9:40 p.m., police responded to Dawn Hill Adult Home on Lisa Drive for the report of a man who overdosed. Northport Rescue responded to the location and transported the man to Huntington Hospital.
At 11:06 p.m., a 52-year-old Huntington man was arrested for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after he was pulled over for speeding and failing to signal on Cayuga Avenue.
