Police Officer Injured in Hit-and-Run to Be Released From Hospital
Officer Nicholas Guerrero to be transported to rehabilitation facility, officials said.

Suffolk County Police Officer Nicholas Guerrero, who was critically injured in a hit-and-run in Huntington last month, will be released from Stony Brook University Hospital Friday morning, authorities said.
Guerrero and his partner were struck by a vehicle fleeing a traffic stop on Partridge Lane in Huntington on Sept. 22. Guerrero suffered a serious head injury and was airlifted to Stony Brook, where he has been since the incident.
Officials and medical experts will hold a news conference on Friday to discuss Guerrero’s recovery and release. They will include Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Edward Webber and Stony Brook University Hospital Chief Dr. James Vosswinkel, who runs the hospital’s division of trauma, emergency surgery and surgical critical care.

Guerrero heads next to to a rehabilitation facility. Members of the Suffolk County Police Department will be on hand Friday to support him as he is released from hospital.
Chad Morizsan, 34, and Nicholas Franzone, 22, of Northport, were indicted on upgraded charges stemming from the hit-and-run and if convicted could face up to 25 years in state prison, authorities said.
