Presidential Debate and Women's Equality Rights

Tonight-the discussion on the hottest topics of 2020 and where do women stand within both Presidential Camps?

Maryann Maltese, activist-candidate for NYS Assembly-12th AD, Former Regional Communications Manager for the NYS Legislature is weighing in on what two Presidential Candidates takes will be on Equality Rights for Women? Biden and Trump; women need to pay close attention this evening on the present and future aspects on equality for women. Discussions and decisions made tonight on key aspects; equality in the workforce and women who hold the same positions earn fairness in wages. Historically speaking, women's overall rights of Choice and Equality in the Workforces are interwoven together as Legislative Bills; both Federally and Statewide. A vote often for one, is a vote for all-placing women in harms way. One can not simply state they are for Women's equality and then vote against State budget bills (NYS) which interwoven women's rights to equality in the workforce and choice.

A question for the voters of the 12th NYS Assembly District to ask themselves is; do Women want to continue to be under-represented in the Legislature? For over 38 years, the NYS Assembly Seat was held by a Representative that continuously voted against Women's Rights of Choice and Fairness in Earnings. This was overshadowed-clouded by perhaps the communities willingness to previously say to one's self-I live in a nice community and make concessions for such. As women, we often put others before ourselves; we are nurturers, but this year-after seeing what the last 3.5 years has brought forward-it's necessary for Women to be much more diligent in their candidate choices for President and for State wide offices; including State Assembly Seat # 12 and Surrounding Two State Senate Seats # 2 and #5.

With the U.S. Supreme Court's Nomination of Barrett, it reflects the possibility of how Women's Rights in the Courtroom might further reduce Women's Rights to Earning Capacities. For decades, Women's Equality Movement has been inching towards penny's on the dollar to meet 100 pennies of a Men's earnings. The Public Sector Positions have the worse earning potential for women; many have or are earning between 60-70 cents per dollar; whereas Private Sector women earn between 79-81 cents per dollar for equivalent employment positions. This is still-in 2020-unacceptable business practices. With Equality comes Fairness in Earnings-if a Woman doesn't earn for working capacity-then the power to be Equal is not in place-creating a web for the Judicial Branches to render against women. It's more than ever imperative to ensure that NYS Legislators represent Women's needs to minimize the number of cases that Might reach the Supreme Court docket on Women's Rights. Women advance cases to the Judicial Docket when Legislation or equality thereof is not in place to meet our needs. If in the 12th AD-as women; we have Members voting against Women's Rights and a U.S. Supreme Court Justice weighing in on the conservative view points-it further disintegrates our foundational rights established under the 19th Amendment. Fairness in Wages-Equality of Earnings falls within the 19th Amendment and until we have that implemented in every decision (Judicially) going forward-then as Citizens with the right to vote-we must take our vote casted seriously-and not closer our eyes any longer.

This is why-I stepped forward as a Woman formerly in NYS Public Service Process (NYS Legislature) advising my Peers that I was underpaid for Work Performances Achieved and Earned. I have 18 years of consecutive work experiences-working for Members of multiple Administrations (that saids something to my credit) but paid grossly mediocre while making Male Colleagues look awesome. This practice must cease and NYS must Assist in repairing our own Rules of Employment within the NYS Public Sector. Women systematically in NYS Public Sector take on more responsibility, more consolidation of titles into one position-but DO NOT receive wage increases in doing so. NYS consolidates employment roles-saving money-but does not provide an increase to the Staff Member (Female primarily) with an increase in earnings, or annual reviews that provide increases systematically for good works. By this example -Maryann Maltese, not receiving Increases in Earnings when work productively produced winning results, as well as positive changes for New Yorker's at large, must be corrected within the NYS Legislature.

The passage of the Maltese Fairness in Wages will correct outdated rules of employment law that continue to keep the Women of the NYS Legislature (Staff Members-as Members are treated equally in salary and benefits) in an unequal level of influence by acknowledging the State's mistake and bringing forth the changes necessary for female staffers rising up the ranks and receiving due earning compensation. Maryann Maltese, NYS OMCE Member-Tier 4, 1994-2013; has put NYS officially on notice to correct the Legislative situation.
