Rotary's Winter Soiree Raises Funds for Hospice House
Northport Rotary's Winter Soiree fundraiser for the VNSHS brings out a full house.
Despite frigid temperatures Saturday night, the ambiance inside the Northport Yacht Club was one of warmth and camaraderie as community members gathered for the ’s fourth annual Winter Soirée.
The heartfelt goal, which was so much in keeping with Valentine’s Day weekend, was raising funds for the
Proceeds of the sold-out event were donated in the name of honoree Jay Walsh, who was instrumental in founding the East Northport facility that has been nationally recognized for excellence in end-of-life care.
Walsh, a retired Northport attorney, received proclamations from Mayor George Doll and , who spoke of the nobility of Walsh’s commitment and service to both the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk and the community.

“You have a way of making things work,” said VNSHS CEO Linda Taylor. “You are the heart of all of us, and we can’t thank you enough.”
As a lasting tribute, a bronze plaque which shows Walsh in front of the Hospice House will forever have a place of honor in the East Northport facility that has brought comfort to so many.
