Social Photos: The Great Cow Harbor 10K Run 2016

Long Islanders really "MOOved it" through those 6.2 miles on a beautiful Saturday morning.

Cow Harbor Day Weekend in Northport officially kicked off at the sound of the starting gun at the Great Cow Harbor 10K run on Saturday morning.

The race brings thousands of runners, from elites to beginners, to Northport each year to run the challenging, yet scenic course.

The winner of the 10 kilometer race through Northport Village was Aaron Braun of Flagstaff, Arizona. Braun, 29, cruised through the finish line in a time of 29 minutes and 23 seconds, beating the second place runner by nearly 15 seconds.

The top female finisher was Natosha Rogers, of Littleton, Colorado who ran a time of 33 minutes and 16 seconds.

Top Long Island male and female finishers were:

  • Nicholas Filippazzo, 22, of Wantagh— 29:49.90
  • Leonora Petrina, 34, of Bayport— 34:00.75

Among the race finishers were Firefighter/EMTs Jamie Conroy and Dylan James who completed the course wearing about 50 pounds of structural firefighting gear and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.

In addition to the 10k race, there was a 2k Fun Run/Walk for young runners and those who aren’t ready to run/crawl up James Street just yet.
