County Closes Valley Grove; Steers Beach Still Closed

Suffolk health department found unsafe bacteria levels.

Commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services James Tomarken said thatValley Grove Beach in Eatons Neck has been added to this list of beaches that are closed to bathing due to the finding ofbacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria.

Steers Beach was closed Thursday and remains closed.

Additionally the beach closure issued for in Huntington and Huntington Beach Community Association in Centerport issued earlier has been lifted, as results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable levels.
