Sweet Senior Liam Still Waiting For A Second Chance: Northport Kitties Of The Week
Estimated to be at least 10 years old, Liam greets everyone like an old friend and is ready for a loving forever family.

NORTHPORT, NY — Sometimes the most special cats are not the tiny kittens everyone rushes toward. Sometimes, they are the ones who “quietly wait… hoping someone will notice them.”
That is Liam, this week’s Northport Cat Rescue Association Cat of the Week.
Liam first appeared at a local family’s home this past summer. According to Northport Cat Rescue Association volunteer Lora Wild, the family did not know where he came from, only that he was “sweet, friendly, and clearly used to people.” Severe allergies in the household prevented them from bringing him inside, but they continued to feed him, check on him, and even allow him to burrow safely under their deck so he could stay warm.

As colder weather approached, the family grew increasingly concerned. Wild said they described Liam as “the sweetest cat ever,” who would come running every time they called his name.
“When I went to meet Liam, I saw exactly what they meant,” Wild said.

“The moment we stepped outside and called for him, Liam came trotting right over as if he had been waiting for us,” she said. “He rubbed against our legs, purred nonstop, and even asked to be picked up. It was clear immediately — this boy wasn’t meant to live outdoors.”
Volunteers gently placed him into a carrier and brought him into rescue, where they made a surprising discovery.
Liam is not a young stray, but a senior gentleman estimated to be at least 10 years old. He is missing several teeth, but Wild said you would “never know it from his personality.” She described him as spunky, silly, and deeply affectionate, often rolling onto his back for attention and greeting visitors “like an old friend.”
“He truly is the definition of a gentle soul,” Wild said.
Everyone who meets Liam seems to fall in love instantly, she added. While he may not be a kitten, what adopters see is exactly what they get — “a loving, grateful companion who still has so many good years left to share with someone special.”
“If you’ve ever thought about opening your heart to a senior cat, Liam might just be the perfect one,” Wild said.
Liam is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, litter-box trained, microchipped, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV. Those interested in meeting Liam can visit him at Pet Supplies Plus in East Northport, fill out an application on the Northport Cat Rescue website, call 631-606-2631, or email info@northportcatrescue.org.
