Voter's Guide: Elwood 2017-18 School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for election day.

Elwood residents will vote on the school district’s $60,330,370 proposed budget for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday, May 16.

The proposal calls for a 1.46 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.99 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.

Polls will be open from 2 to 10 p.m. at Elwood Middle School cafeteria.

Three candidates are running for two seats on the Board. Current Board trustee Julia Fried is running unopposed for her seat. Becky Marcus and Matthew Curiale are both running for the seat currently held by Michael LaMena, who is stepping down from the Board.
