Women's Equality Movement-Election Day November 3, 2020

Maryann Maltese, a Huntington, NY Resident, Independent Democrat, Supporter of Women's Rights-Former Candidate denied access to this year's State Assembly 12th District-calls out State Candidates for elective offices to come forward and advise their constituencies-"Where do you stand on the Modern Day Version of Women's Right to Equality of Earnings-and our other Civil Rights?

Maryann Maltese, supporter of Pro Choice-supports Women's Modern Day Plea for State Legislatures (Senate and Assembly) to share their vision of what the Women's Movement is and how exactly they intend to ensure that NYS Women's Agenda's-Our Mission for Equality of Earnings in the workforce be implemented.

Newsday; October 28, 2020, endorsed several State Legislative Candidates-but ignored asking State Legislative Candidates to be frank-honest on their positions of the Women's Movement. A good question for Women to ask their candidates today is; where do you stand on Women's Civil Rights and Implementation of Employment Processes to ensure Equality of Earnings and to ensure legislative enactment of bills/laws passed to provide Claim Processes for many of us not presently employed with former employers who evaded the law or did not provide state recognized Labor law standards.

Maryann Maltese, a former Communications Regional Manager with the NYS Legislature and Chief of Staff worked inside Albany and Managed Federal and State Campaigns for several State and Federal Members for 33 years-knows first-hand- that Women's Employment rights-the Right of Equal Earnings in the public sector has been ignored. Generally Speaking-the Women's Right of Earnings is interwoven with Women's Right of Choice-it is one vote and one vote only.

Women are the deciding force in a tough election year-we come out and Vote and Women-need to be Careful and think before casting this year's vote for Statewide Candidates in Suffolk County. In my opinion, if your Candidate isn't on board with what is ideally important to you personally as well as Women in Society-then rethink your decision before casting your vote. This year-with State Election Seats on the ballot-the Women's Movement especially our pleas for Equality of Earnings has been once again quietly pushed under the rug with excuses that State of Emergency Pandemic Orders are more relevant. I believe, waiting 100 years prior to Pandemic Covid 19 for Equality of Earnings to be implemented sets the precedent as to why-the year-the Anniversary Year of the Women's Movement-Implementation of Rule Based/Claim Based Processes need enactment-so Women can receive due compensation where warranted.

We, as Women have been avoiding this issue; believing that other fundamental rights we share are more important before the Earning of Wages issue; such as the right to sound education, living in good communities but if we don't share in Equality of Earnings-none of the above truly exists individually for women. Before the passing our beloved U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader we believed that if injustice occurred-women would have a voice on Legal Matters that reach the highest court in the Land-that has changed recently. It's important for each of us-to know exactly where each State Legislator representing us in State and Federal Offices if they are supportive of the Women’s Movement. In my mail today; I, like many of you-received Election Mailing Pieces-Individually from Candidates or Ads Candidates Paid for (Penny Saver's) in the Local Press discusses several areas of their concerns-have any of them expressed where these Candidates Stand on Women's Agenda in the last Month? NO-they have not. That Speaks Volumes this 2020 Election Season-where I; as a Woman was denied a Hearing at the lowest Court-State Supreme-Suffolk County of an Election Law Matter.

Ask yourselves why and get in touch with their Campaigns to press them for answers before November 3rd. We can not afford to be quiet any further and take for granted that existing Legislative Policies provide the means of Equality of Earnings. Why you might ask?

100 years has flew by since the signing of Women's Rights to Vote-which aided our ability to Enter the Workforce-it gave us a Voice Finally in Government and in the Workplace to discuss inhumane treatment in the workforce or if as women; advancing in various fields/industries-the opportunity to Stand up and proclaim-Women are being underpaid for the Same=Equal Employment Roles or Level of Responsibility. The Right to Vote-Permitted Women in the Workforce to take on Leadership roles, as well as in the Private and Union Sectors of Employment-advancing in these work areas; including those; Women who Run for Elective Offices. The question that still remains; 100 years later-if we are in the workforce-holding Employment Titles that Pre-Determine Salary or Employee Compensation Packages-did the Employee (Primary Female) receive equitable employment packages and/or raises that other employees received annually due to the consolidation of Employment Titles into one Employment Role? Did the Earnings you received meet or met modern day employment standards in New York State?

If your Answer is NO-which is my answer too; then pay close attention to where Your Candidate Stands on the Women's Agenda-as our Rights of Choice and Rights of Earnings is Presently One Vote in the New York State Budget; and Perhaps former Candidates you supported have not been honest with you on their voting positions.

As those who represent us in State Government; the representatives need to be one in Our Mission of Equality of Earnings- and if they are not-then that Candidate cannot be in Elective office representing my or your viewpoints this 2020 Election Year. One with the passing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Bader-the U.S. Supreme Court, now has the driving force of Conservative Nature-and Women are already the underdog; our pleas of Equality of Earnings in modern day terms has not resonated or materialized- (Read it again) meaning the process for Women to file claims or receive earning settlements from various employers must be IMPLEMENTATED- MEASURE OF LAW of procedure or processes. Women-are still waiting for this in New York State. Where does your candidate stand?

My Quote; "One can only be Equal; when one Earns Equal Wages", Maryann Maltese. It resonates today because in NYS-we are still waiting for the NYS Legislature after 100 years to implement the process for Women with Employment Claims to received Equality of Earnings. The Governor Promised this to Women publicly as of 2014; and 6 sessions later-we do not have it.
