19-year-old Indicted in 66-year-old Roommate Stabbing
Rockland County officials added robbery charges to the murder charges.

The 19-year-old who ran out of a West Nyack apartment in the middle of the night screaming for someone to call 911 has been indicted for the murder of his new 66-year-old roommate.
In fact, Rockland officials have upped the charges, adding robbery to the list.
Dylan Lentini, 19, was homeless until he answered Michael Wimbert’s Craigslist ad for a roommate. He came up from NYC to White Plains on the train Nov. 27, where Wimbert picked him up and drove him back to the multi-family building on Demarest Avenue.

Here’s the statement from the Rockland County DA:
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced the indictment of Dylan Lentini (DOB 11/10/96) of Vacaville, California for murdering 66-year-old Michael Wimbert in his West Nyack home. Lentini is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with four counts of Murder in the Second Degree, class “A” Felonies and three counts of Robbery in the First Degree, class “B” Felonies, in the December 1, 2015 killing.
“It is difficult to imagine a crime more heinous than stabbing a helpless man approximately 24 times,” said District Attorney Zugibe. “This was an extremely brutal attack. It is our hope that this prosecution will bring justice for Michael Wimbert, and provide closure to his grieving family and friends.”
On December 1, 2015, at approximately 1:45 a.m., while inside Michael Wimbert’s home, located at 68 Demarest Avenue, West Nyack, Lentini violently attacked the victim, stabbing him nearly two dozen times, causing his death.
An autopsy report by the Office of the Rockland County Medical Examiner will be concluded within a few months.
Lentini remains held at the Rockland County Jail. He is scheduled to return to court on January 21, 2016.
The defendant faces a maximum of 25 years to life in state prison, if convicted.
Executive Assistant District Attorney Dominic Crispino and Senior Assistant District Attorney Patrick Fischer are prosecuting the case.
