Join us for an extraordinary evening with Alicia Crowe and Friends Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and Friends!
Alicia Crowe was seen in SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, THE CRUCIBLE and RAGTIME on the Elmwood Stage - now she takes the stage for Herself and Friends for an evening of tribute to masters of Jazz! Friends include: Jason Teborek, Herve Alexandre, Samuel Waymon, Shirley Crabbe and Yvette McLarty.
A Native New Yorker, Alicia was most influenced listening to her mother's jazz and classical music collection which included Ella Fitzgerald, Sara Vaughn, Carmen McRae, Nancy Wilson, Mariam Makeba, Nina Simone and Shirley Horn.
After receiving her law degree from Howard University and going into private practice with her identical twin sister, she began studying voice privately with Dr. Stanley L. Ralph. Soon she opened concerts with Stella Marrs, Jimmy Heath, Norman Simmons, Sheila Jordan and Cameron Brown. Alicia has also performed at the Jazz Foundation of America Jazz Loft Party and other performances.
Alicia further studied at Harlem's esteemed Jazzmobile Saturday workshops founded by the late Billy Taylor where she developed her craft and found great mentors. She performs with the Carrie Jackson jazz vocal collective in Newark, New Jersey and at several venues and private events in the New York Metropolitain area. Alcia performs Standards and works from Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gilliespie, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Count Basie and the Great American Songbook. She is dedicated to keeping the legacy of America's Classical music known as "Jazz" alive.
