Dear Editor,
I am writing as the Executive Director of ARC of Rockland. We touch the lives of 1200 people with developmental disabilities and their families throughout Rockland County. They rely on us to make sure that people with developmental disabilities are both full citizens and contributing members of the Rockland community.
The wellbeing of the people and families we help depends on the support we receive from our community and its leaders. Clearly, one of the most critical leaders is Senator David Carlucci, Chair of the Senate Mental Health Committee. For us, that Committee and its chair are vital to everything that happens in Albany regarding issues relative to people with developmental disabilities.

Senator Carlucci has distinguished himself through his dedication and compassion for the people and families who count on us every day. The Senator has sponsored more than 20 bills dealing with issues relative to our causes. His bills encompass employment, safety and legislation dealing with the current shortage of services. In this year’s budget, Senator Carlucci contributed a wealth of innovative ideas to our most challenging funding issues.
Senator Carlucci is constantly looking for new proposals to deal with the problems facing the people and families who rely upon us for services and supports. Rockland County can count itself fortunate to have such a capable leader in the New York State Legislature.
