Cases Of New Coronavirus Double In Rockland
All relate back to the outbreak in Westchester County.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The number of people who have tested positive for new coronavirus in Rockland County doubled to four as of Monday morning, all relating back to exposure in Westchester County. The number was announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo at a morning news conference.
The two additional people were already under quarantine, Rockland County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Ruppert said Monday afternoon.
"The Rockland County Department of Health will not be disclosing information regarding any possible relationships between cases out of concern for our resident’s privacy and due to HIPAA," she said. "However, we can confirm that these two additional cases, announced this morning by Governor Cuomo, were exposed to the two Rockland residents who had already tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19)."

Those two worked at a bar mitzvah at Young Israel of New Rochelle at which many people were exposed to at least one contagious person.
"We remind all residents to follow established hygiene practices and to contact their health care provider by phone if they feel ill right away," Dr. Ruppert said.

As of 11 a.m. Sunday the Rockland County Department of Health was monitoring 22 people under quarantine. Health officials said Monday that updated numbers of individuals under quarantine are not currently available due to the rapidly changing nature of the situation.
The list includes five students enrolled in five of the East Ramapo district's schools who were exposed to someone with what is officially called COVID-19, school officials said.
