When did your business open? We have been working on this business since late 2016. We had our inaugural tour in June 2017.
How did you come up with the name? We are operating in Nyack and the surrounding areas and our vision is to deliver great Experiences to visitors to Nyack. Experience Nyack is both our company name and what we offer.
Why start a business in this town? Nyack is a great town...a great community. People come to our town for dinner, for shopping, for the galleries and antique stores. We are giving guests other things-to-do in Nyack before or after dinner or other planned activities.
What business are you in? We are in the touring and experience business. Nyack is a great village and our plan is to create an umbrella company that provides fun & educational things-to-do in and around Nyack - - the one stop shop to find great Experiences.
What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced starting a new business? The hardest part of starting a new business is getting the word out. You can build a great business but waiting for customers to hear and act is the biggest challenge. We know when guests book our tours they will be happy customers and tell others about us!
What’s one highlight you've had since opening? Since opening we’ve been delighted when approached by smart and talented local people who want to partner with us and show off their unique talents. Besides our Walking History Tour and History on the Hudson Sailing Tour we have a Guided Hike up Hook Mountain, we were recently approached by a local photographer to do a smartphone photography class, and we met a pottery maker who wants to share his love for clay with “a day in clay” experience. We believe Experience Nyack can help local talent and businesses expand their customer bases by offering unique experiences and getting our guests to sample their offering.
How does your business give back to the community? We work closely with VisitNyack, Inc. and share their goal to bring more visitors to Nyack, to help our local businesses grow, and to keep Nyack the vibrant community it is today. Our goal is to help Nyack and its businesses thrive. We have plans to do tours that “give back” to local not-for-profit organizations as well. Stay tuned!
