Cops Use Drone To Find Suspects In Route 59 Hit-and-Run

UPDATE — Clarkstown cops deployed a drone to find two suspects who had run away from a collision in Central Nyack Tuesday morning. They found one in the woods and another lying injured in an underground parking lot at the Palisades mall.

They learned about the crash from an Orangetown police officer.

At 7:45 a.m. the Orangetown officer called Clarkstown to report a hit and run car accident at the gas station on the corner of Waldron Avenue and Route 59 in Central Nyack. A maroon pickup truck, occupied by two men, fled westbound on Route 59. As the officer approached Palisades Center Drive, he found the pickup in front of the Rockland Paramedic building with severe damage. Both occupants had run away.

Police conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area, deploying a drone to assist.

The driver of the vehicle was found lying in the underground parking lot of the Palisades Center with a serious head wound, police said. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center. He was identified as Brandon Ware, 32, of Charlotte, NC.

Police said they did not know whether Ware sustained the head injury as a result of the car accident or a fall from within the parking garage. It is not considered life-threatening.

The other man was located in the woods area behind the paramedic building. He was not injured and was identified as Will Hochadel, 61, of Lakeland, Fl.

Ware was charged with DWI and will return to Clarkstown Justice Court at a later date. He is still undergoing medical care at this time. More information will be provided as it becomes available.


NYACK, NY — Clarkstown police say they caught a suspect in Tuesday morning's hit-and-run car crash in Central Nyack.

The suspect, who reportedly had run toward the mall, was located by police in about an hour.
