High school athletics have become a major part in the local landscape because not only do we have some great programs and very talented athletes in the area, but we also have young men and women who are able to rebound from a tragedy and show resilience.
Last year, Clarkstown North lost their beloved junior varsity basketball John Sullivan in February. The loss of the adored coach and teacher reached beyond the basketball court and touched the entire community.
“He was a truly wonderful, funny and inspiring man,” said Ram’s Varsity Coach Kerry Sullivan.

Even more heart wrenching about a year before the team lost their coach, his eight-year old grand daughter lost her life to a brain tumor. The Sullivan family has shown a palpable spirit and created the Carolyn Sullivan Memorial Foundation.
It is the mission of the Foundation to improve the quality of life for children battling illness, and let them know that they are not alone. The Foundation provides for anything that the family of a sick child may need to assist them in keeping their child comfortable and happy. Children need normalcy, comfort and support to achieve the goal of recovery and survival. The Carolyn Sullivan Memorial Foundation is aimed to help these children achieve their goal.

In an effort to give back to the coach that gave so much to the Clarkstown North basketball program, the team is dedicating their season to Coach John Sullivan and at each home game the team will be collecting donations for the Carolyn Sullivan Memorial Foundation.
Monday night, the Rams are hosting Nanuet in their home opener and they are holding a dedication ceremony in-between the JV and varsity games, around 5:30 and the team would like to invite everyone and anyone who knew Coach Sullivan in any capacity to come and celebrate his life.
