Nyack Wrestlers Prepare for Big Weekend

Over the weekend the best wrestlers from across the Hudson Valley will compete in the sectional tournament.
The schools have been split up into two divisions and Nyack along with both Clarkstown schools will be competing in Division 1.
Nyack has three wrestlers competing: (120) seeded third, Kessler Felix (138) seeded 16th, and Charles Fancois (285) seeded sixth.

Thakur has been the team’s best wrestler throughout his senior season and he comes into the tournament with a 29-2 record. Thakur will face off against Horace Greeley junior Bing Bing Xie who comes in at 16-11.
Clarkstown North will send five representatives to the tournament with Brian Hong (99) seeded seventh, Mike Seligson (106) seeded seventh, Dean Gueverra (113) seeded eleventh, Coby Kash (132) seeded fourth, and Ryan Becker (145) seeded fifth.

Kash comes into the weekend with a record of 26-4 for the Rams, the junior will face off against Horace Greeley sophomore Mitchell Klein who is 21-11 on the season.
Clarkstown South will send 11 athletes to the sectional tournament. Paul Okeke and Wilmer Quintero-Martinez will be seeded fourth and 13 respectively at 195, the two Vikings will face each other in the first round. Both Alex Notaro (106) and Brian McLiverty (113) will be seeded eighth and Liam Gallagher (145) and Nick Holahan (285) will be seeded ninth in their weight classes.
Austin Fox (126) will be seeded 13th, Reid Orlando (138) will be seeded 15th, Matt Oliva (170) will be seeded 10th, Tome Marku (182) will be seeded seventh and Matt St. Onge (220) will be seeded 14th.
South’s junior Okeke is 29-7 on the season, he will hit the matt against his teammate Quintero-Martinez who is 5-8 on the year.

Highlights: Ramapo’s David Haye led all scorers in the win with 33 points. Brendan O’Sullivan led Nyack with 15 in the loss.
Sport: Girls Gymnastics
Game: Section 1 Championships
Score: Clarkstown Won 171.225
Highlights: Clarkstown won the team title for the first time since 2006 to cap of a remarkable undefeated season. Individually the day belonged to Suffern’s Alexa Calandra who was named the all-around champion with a score of 38.25.

In girls basketball, Nyack will head to Clarkstown South at 6 p.m.
In ice hockey, Clarkstown will host Suffern at the Palisades Ice Arena at 4:50 p.m.
