Nyack’s Klarissa Armada and Kristen Soeder advanced in Tuesday’s conference tournament for girl’s tennis. Other local athletes also competed in the two day event hosted by Tappan Zee. All three local schools also sent teams to Bear Mountain to compete in the cross country league championships.

In other sports Clarkstown South won a cross district volleyball matchup while Nyack’s boys lost on the pitch and the girls won in field hockey.

Score: Sapienza (South) Won 6-0, 6-0
Score: Kozinsky/Harris (South) Won 6-2, 6-2
Score: Silverstein/Goldstein (North) Won 6-1, 6-0
Score: Tenteromano/Brown (South) Lost 6-1, 6-2
Highlights: Several of the best athletes were on display as Tappan Zee hosted the girl’s tennis conference tournament. Jenny Nutovits of the Rams won a cross district battle against South’s Camille Dietrich. The Vikings also won as Lauren Sapienza beat Kristen Arendt of the Falcons in straight sets.
In doubles, the tandem from Suffern defeated South’s Erica Tenteromano and Courtney Barron. South’s duo of Marissa Kozinzky and Leah Harris beat a Pearl River team in straight sets while North’s Ruby Silverstein and Erica Goldstein defeated Kristen Pinto and Lindsay Smith of Clarkstown South.
Nyack had two doubles teams in the contest as well. Klarissa Armada and Kristen Soeder defeated the team from Pearl River in straight sets while Christina Tan and Emily Farrugia fell to a team from North Rockland

Game: League 4B Boy’s 3 Mile Run
Score: Pearl River 26 – Tappan Zee 34 – Nyack 88 – Nanuet 96 – Albertus Magnus 153
Highlights: The Indians came away with a third place finish thanks to four Nyack team members finishing in the top 25. Julio Melendez led the way for the team as he finished in 12th with a time of 17:08.53.

Game: League 4A Boy’s 3 Mile Run
Score: North Rockland 19 – Suffern 58 – Clarstown South 63- Clarkstown North 97- East Ramapo 155
Highlights: Clarkstown South may have wrapped the meet in third place but Robert Arbuco finished in 2nd place overall with a time of 16:21.02, as teammate Michael Gugliemo finished in 7th. Zach Rose had the best time for the Rams as he came in 11th out of 99 competitors.
Sport: Volleyball
Game: Clarkstown South @ Clarkstown North
Score: Clarkstown South Won 3-1
Highlights: After dropping the first set South went on to win the next three to escape Clarkstown North with 3-1 victory. The Vikings were led by Taylor Carroll’s 18 kills and Kianna Carroll’s 15, while Jodie Salazar picked up 19 assists in the win. In the loss Brittany DeGaetano had 15 saves for the Rams.
Sport: Boy’s Soccer
Game: Nyack @ Albertus Magnus
Score: Nyack Lost 3-0
Highlights: James Huber led the way for the Falcons with 2 goals and 1 assist, Arnell Dandridge added a goal and assist for Albertus Magnus in the victory. Nyack’s Jon Rizner led the Indian defense with 8 saves in defeat.
Sport: Field Hockey
Game: Suffern @ Nyack
Score: Nyack Won 2-0
Highlights: Nyack’s Hannah Enquist and Joelle Angarola each found the back of the net once in the team’s home victory. Brianna Brickman had six saves for the Indians in the win.

In girl’s soccer, North Rockland will head to Clarkstown North at 4.
In girl’s soccer, Ramapo will head to Clarkstown South at 4.
In boy’s soccer, Spring Valley will take on Nyack at Maccalman Field at 4.
In field hockey, Nanuet will head to Nyack for a 4 o’clock showdown.
In girl’s soccer, Nyack will head to Pearl River to take on the Pirates at 4.
