Harvard puts win on ice
The Harvard University women’s hockey team overcame a 3-0 deficit late in the second period to defeat Rensselaer, 5-3, in dramatic fashion at Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge, MA.
Sophomore Gina McDonald of New Brighton, MN, had the team’s first hat trick of the season to rally No. 10 Harvard past Rensselaer (5-15-4, 2-8-2 Ivy League).

The Crimson (11-5-1, 8-3-1) continue its home stand on Friday (Jan. 20) against No. 3 Cornell at 7 p.m.
Defenseman Josephine Pucci of Pearl River, who was not in the lineup against Rensselaer, is expected back in action for the Cornell challenge. The Big Red has rolled to 16 victories in 18 games.

Harvard will be home again on Jan. 21 against Colgate University (8-14-1) at 4 p.m.
Vikings rolling
The Westchester Community College women’s basketball team, rolling along with an impressive 13-2 record, visits Queensborough CC (7-4) tonight (Jan. 19) at 6 p.m.
Jessica Negron of Yonkers is second on the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game, while Sara Franco of White Plains is averaging 10 and Brittney Marbury, also of White Plains, is averaging seven.
Janejellica Johnson of Westside HS in Manhattan is pacing the Vikings with 12 points per game.
WCC returns home on Jan. 21 when it welcomes Suffolk County CC (3-3) to its campus in Valhalla.
Red Dragons roll
Junior Brian Manning of Elmira matched his career high with 19 points to lead three players in double figures as the SUNY Cortland men’s basketball team defeated visiting Utica College, 73-62, in non-conference action at Corey Gymnasium. The Red Dragons improved to 11-4, while the Pioneers fell to 4-11.Junior Jeff Ward of Ossining led the Pioneers with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, and added six rebounds.Utica hosts Alfred University (9-4) on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m., and then stays home to meet winless Elmira on Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. Cortland visits Oswego State on Jan. 21 at 8 p.m., and stays on the road to meet Brockport (5-8) on Jan. 24 at 8 p.m.Ryan Sheridan of Blauvelt, a Tappan Zee graduate, is averaging 4.6 points and two rebounds per game for Oswego, and has 12 assists and 11 steals.

Highlights: Brianne Schneider picked up a game high 18 points as Clarkstown North cruised to victory. Nikki Petri added 12 for the Rams. Daynara Elysee led Ramapo with 15 points in the loss.

Highlights: Frances Kronenberg of Horace Mann had the best run of the day at 26.5. Veronica Czamik of Clarkstown finished with the bronze at 33.23 and Bronxville was led by Sage and Leila Sunier who finished in at sixth and seventh.
