Day Orders Flags at Rockland County Buildings to Half-Staff
The county executive urged local officials in Piermont and the Nyacks to do the same.

As a sign of solidarity and appreciation to the first responders who work every day to keep our communities safe, Rockland County Executive Ed Day has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Monday, December 22 to honor the two New York City police officers killed in the line of duty in Brooklyn on Saturday.
“Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the families of Police Officer Wenjian Liu and Police Officer Rafael Ramos,” said County Executive Day. “To know that these brave men were murdered in cold blood should sicken all of us. This cowardly act of senseless violence underscores the dangers faced by law enforcement every day. Their commitment to protecting the public and serving the community will be forever remembered. All of Rockland County mourns with the NYPD this holiday season.”
Day is also urging towns and villages within the county to display their flags at half-staff today to honor the service and sacrifice made by law enforcement officers.
