Drunk and Disorderly Incident Last Night at Mall in West Nyack
A Haverstraw man is alleged to have head-butted an officer and injured an EMT.

Clarkstown police say a drunk Haverstraw man assaulted a police officer and emergency medical technician last evening.
Officers were called to the Palisades Center mall at about 6 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated and disorderly man.
When they arrived on the fourth floor, Daniel McCormack, 31, apparently became angry that police had been called. Allegedly he head-butted one of the officers before trying to run away.

The officer did not need medical attention, police said.
He was placed under arrest and taken to headquarters. Police said he continued to be aggressive there—so much so that they first used pepper spray on him and then decided he needed to be taken to Nyack Hospital.

As McCormack was being transported in the rear of the New City Volunteer Ambulance, he grabbed an EMT’s hand and fingers, bending them back, police said. The police officer riding in the ambulance was able to stop him. The EMT, a 35-year-old New City resident, was treated at Nyack Hospital for a minor hand injury and released.
McCormack was treated and released from the hospital and arraigned at the Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $50,000. He will return to court on April 6 to face charges of assault 2nd (felony), assault 3rd (misdemeanor), obstructing governmental administration 2nd (misdemeanor), disorderly conduct (violation), resisting arrest (misdemeanor) and harassment 2nd (violation).
