Ebola Scare Fans Facebook Page Fight

St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Orange County was locked down yesterday for several hours after a patient came in who had just returned to the states from overseas, exhibited some unusual symptoms, and alerted hospital staff to an unknown powdery substance on personal items that he brought back.

The lockdown, which was reported by the hospital and police and covered in the regional media, including News 12 and MidHudsonNews.com, ended when emergency responders and the county’s HazMat team declared there was no threat.

The incident was unsettling—as the ensuing argument on the Orange and Rockland County Fire Facebook page showed.

Orange and Rockland County Fire—which gives updates on fire calls in Orange and Rockland ccounties and major incidents nationwide—was criticized for writing about the incident.
